Asiatic Black Bears are solitary animals. The exception to this rule is family groups of females with their babies. The maternal family usually lives in groups that occupy a home range of 10-20 square km. These animals are active at night, but this activity depends on the place where the animals live. Their home range depends greatly upon the food available in the area, but it is usually less than half a square mile.
Asiatic Black Bears - Interesting Facts
Asiatic Black Bears can climb the trees; they do so to collect the fruits and nuts that is the main part of their diet. They also gather nuts and fruits on the ground under the trees. The animals are known to migrate seasonally; thus in warm weather they go to the highest mountain regions where it is cooler and, in contrast, when the temperature is getting cold, they return to lower elevations. Although Bears travel over vast territories, they still remember the landscape quite well and they easily find the place where they inhabited some time before. Asiatic Black Bears - Reproduction
Asiatic Black Bears mate from June to July and this period lasts about one or two days although the periods may vary from region to region. The Asiatic Black Bear does not start the breeding until three or four years of age. The mating period is observed from March to December. The females look for a den during the winter or early spring depending on the breeding season. They give birth to 1-4 cubs during January to February. The cubs are born blind, and helpless. Each one weighs about 8-10.5 ounces. The cubs of the Asiatic Black Bears are weaned at the age of six months, but they stay with their mothers until they are two or three years old.

Black Bears - American Black Bears are the smallest of North American Bears and are less aggressive than other bears. They are actually large mammals with powerful limbs, small ears and black fur. The animal has a relatively small head though the body is rather big. Thus adult females typically weigh 100-200 lbs and adult males weigh 150-400 lbs.
The color of the American Black Bear can vary. Its muzzle or snout is light brown or tan in color and some bears may have a small, white chest blaze. There are five toes, each with a well-developed claw^; they are on both the front and hind feet. The teeth of the animal are well adapted for feeding on plants and animals too.
